City of Fremantle supports Gaining Ground WA mentorship program with Youth Grant

Gaining Ground WA is thrilled to announce we've been awarded a $7,500 youth grant from the City of Fremantle to enhance our mentorship program at Fremantle City Football Club in 2024 and 2025.

The funding will strengthen skill-building for Gaining Ground WA mentors to be youth role models and increase our engagement and impact with girls 12 to 16-years old.

“We're excited to be able to hire and grow a team of young women designing and facilitating our workshops and now truly elevate them into leadership roles where they can be supported to thrive,” said Kris Marano, Founder, Gaining Ground WA. “This funding is an important milestone that contributes to our organisational vision."

Gaining Ground WA’s mentorship program addresses the historical lack of women in leadership roles in grassroots sporting clubs. Through role models, education, and skillbuilding we aim to prevent drop out rates, retain players, and enable women and girls to lead to their true capabilities.
